About the Journal

Gli Argonauti is an open-access, peer-reviewed electronic journal that publishes scholarly contributions on topics in the fields of the history of education and pedagogy. The journal was established on the initiative of the Chair of History of Education at the University of Messina.

The research articles, scholarly studies, and critical essays published by the journal primarily address the history of schooling, educational institutions, and educational practices, as well as the historical development of pedagogical thought and educational research in the modern and contemporary periods. Particular attention is devoted to Southern Italy, border regions, and peripheral areas, also from a comparative perspective.

The journal also welcomes interdisciplinary studies developed sub specie educationis, examining cultural and educational processes and the relationship between education and economic development, with particular attention to their socio-cultural context and local dimension. In addition, Gli Argonauti publishes contributions devoted to the history of children’s literature.
