About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Il Maurolico, currently on its 16th issue, is a scientific journal published by the Gabinetto di Lettura, an ancient cultural association in Messina, in collaboration with the University of Messina, under the 2022 Convention. It is published in Italy but has distribution in France, Germany, Romania, Spain, and Switzerland. It has its roots in the ancient "Giornale del Gabinetto letterario di Messina" from 1841, which in turn was born from the ashes of the newspaper "Il Maurolico," first published on October 5, 1833. After a brief revival with a few issues published in the 1980s, the Journal was re-established with its current name in 2009, with regular annual releases. The Journal aims to provide information and promote the dissemination of culture by focusing on its various aspects: literary, historical, scientific, artistic, and anthropological. Directed at a diverse readership, it aims to stimulate the debate of ideas and free discussion. To this end, it welcomes content from conferences, seminars, symposiums, study days, and unrestricted essays. The scientific rigor and originality of the published works are ensured through the peer review process by two anonymous referees. Furthermore, includes important sections such as Bibliographic Reviews, News, and Reviews.
