On the basis of a small selection of ancient Greek literary sources, this paper concentrates on the multimediality of the schemata, also highlighting the role that ancient reflections played in the codification, crystallization and tradition of the schemata. The second part of the paper proposes the analysis of a concrete figurative case in order to highlight the consequences, in terms of meanings, of the multimediality of schemata: through the analysis of a sikinnis-dance schema represented on three drinking cup tondos, their new meanings are hypothesized, which should be significant for the symposiasts, i.e. the intended users of the cups.
