This article analyzes the adaptations of Aristophanes’s The Acharnians and Aeschylus’s The Persians by the theatre collective I Sacchi di Sabbia, focusing on the structural and dramaturgical role of stage objects. Through a comparative reading of the two productions, presented as monologues grounded in a markedly non-mimetic puppetry, the article demonstrates how objects take on a genuine narrative role, embodying the dramatis personae and opposing the comic and tragic dynamics. The ritual phallus of The Acharnians and the geometric simulacra of The Persians are interpreted as evocative devices capable of mediating between ritual, abstraction, and spectator participation, offering a refined reflection on the relationship between comedy, tragedy, and the contemporary reception of Greek theatricality.
