Cosa avvicina Stephen King e J.R.R. Tolkien? Più di quel che si pensi. King è stato da sempre un fervente ammiratore del Signore degli Anelli, cui fa spesso riferimento nei suoi romanzi. E da Tolkien ha preso l’idea di un gruppo di amici, a volte bambini come in It, a volte sopravvissuti come in The Stand, che combattono il Male, senza altre risorse se non la fedeltà reciproca, e il desiderio di battere l’ombra.

What connects Stephen King and J.R.R. Tolkien? More than you might think. King has always been a fervent admirer of The Lord of the Rings, referring to it frequently in his novels. And from Tolkien he took the idea of a group of friends, sometimes children as in It, sometimes survivors as in The Stand, who fight Evil, with no resources other than their mutual loyalty and the desire to defeat the shadow.
