Il saggio analizza Armageddon Rag (1983) di G.R.R. Martin come “romanzo tolkieniano” in chiave moderna. Archetipi epici vengono trasposti nel contesto rock e politico degli anni ’60-’80, trasformando il mito in strumento di critica sociale. Martin dialoga con Tolkien ribaltandone la visione morale e anticipando le tematiche delle Cronache del Ghiaccio e del Fuoco.

This essay analyzes G.R.R. Martin’s Armageddon Rag (1983) as a modern “Tolkien novel.” Epic archetypes are transposed into the rock and political context of the 1960s and 1980s, transforming the myth into a tool for social criticism. Martin engages with Tolkien, reversing his moral vision and anticipating the themes of A Song of Ice and Fire.
