Abstract

Nowadays schools in Italy are a crucial “social space” to prepare a Common House of Europe as pacific and democratic cohabitation, by putting together global perspectives and local needs. The paper tries to demonstrate how the complexity and the specificity of Sicilian landscape school needs an approach based on a new teacher’s model: teacher should be able to manage the student’s heterogeneity. Foreign pupils are only a part of a dynamic interaction of different life styles and models. There is no difference between the international students (who were born abroad or in Italy) or students from the others cities, who need to integrate into a new contest, regarding their feeling to be part of Italian school and society. That’s the reason why the intercultural competences are necessary to qualify an European profile of teacher’s professionalism.
