The essay argues with the Pasolini critical mainstream, which today aims to valorize only the Pasolini critic, novelist and director of the early seventies of the last century. For this reason, in this work the theme ‘Pasolini and the South’ is addressed from the point of view of poetry. The section of Poesia in forma di rosa – L’alba meridionale – is read as a diary of the film Il Vangelo secondo Matteo, while the director is looking for the protagonist and the locations of the film. It is a ‘poetry of cinema’ which is the other side of the ‘cinema of poetry’ typical of Pasolini. Furthermore, the result is a new vision of Pasolini’s South, linked to his body and his feelings towards the people of the suburbs.
