This article scrutinizes the evaluation criteria which operate in the field of psychiatry and psychology. It focuses, in particular, on the American psychiatric manual DSM- 5, showing that its use of a quantitative and statistic language tends to erase specific subjectivity. The language used is fully supported by the university discourse imposing a main signfier, the Lacanian Un. The article also examines the function of the imaginary within the evaluating procedures and its relevance regarding the current definitions of disorder and mental health.Dowloads
