Facing the apocalypse: Imagine the city of the future.
Climate change is one of the major elements of the environmental crisis. It is often understood in terms of global warming and its consequences: rising temperatures, melting glaciers, migrations, loss of biodiversity. We are faced with an imaginary Apocalypse. After presenting the characteristic elements of this catastrophe, we look at the greening of cities as a response: here too we see the dominant images, symbols and language coming to the fore, leading us to speak of a 'culture of plants'. Cities need to think not only about the energy transition, but also about the metamorphosis of their development. Can building a 'natural city' be summed up by greening some of its structures? This is what we will explore through three examples taken from the city of Montpellier, in the south of France, between aesthetics, ecological projects and the imaginary.
