Los regionalismos y su traducción en Cronache del Borgo. Nicolò mi ha detto… de Maria Eugenia Mobilia

La recente scomparsa dello scrittore Andrea Camilleri ha rimesso in voga in Spagna la ‘sicilianità’ e tutto ciò che questo termine comporta. Il desiderio, da parte nostra, di tradurre un'opera con la presenza del dialetto siciliano ha rappresentato una sfida che non avrebbe mai avuto una risposta concreta senza il supporto e la gentilezza dell’autrice di Cronache del Borgo. Nicolò mi ha detto..., Maria Eugenia Mobilia, la cui inventiva creativa rende omaggio alla Sicilia, alla sua cultura e alla sua lingua. E per scegliere il metodo di traduzione ho raccolto la sfida di Irene Romera Pintor, che traduce i regionalismi presenti nelle opere di Vincenzo Consolo con i regionalismi del suo luogo di origine; così, i termini in dialetto siciliano presenti nel testo mobiliano diventano, nel testo tradotto, regionalismi dell’area di Castilla y León. Con questo, le varietà diastratiche del castigliano palentino di Tierra de Campos segnano nel testo di arrivo quelle differenze sociali dell’Argimusco all’inizio del secolo tra la classe agiata e i contadini poveri, la cui distanza sociale l’autore magistralmente ingrandisce in Cronache del Borgo grazie all’uso del dialetto siciliano da parte del ceto basso.
The recent death of the writer Andrea Camilleri has put ‘sicilianity’ and all that this term entails back into fashion in Spain. The desire, on our part, to translate a work with the presence of the Sicilian dialect represented a challenge that would never have had a concrete answer without the support and kindness of the author of Cronache del Borgo. Nicolò mi ha detto..., Maria Eugenia Mobilia, whose creative inventiveness pays homage to Sicily, its culture and its language. And to choose the method of translation I took up the challenge of Irene Romera Pintor, who translates the regionalisms present in the works of Vincenzo Consolo with the regionalisms of her place of origin; thus, the terms in Sicilian dialect present in the Mobile text become, in the translated text, regionalisms of the area of Castilla y León. With this, the diastratic varieties of the Palentino Castilian of Tierra de Campos mark in the target text those social differences of Argimusco at the beginning of the century between the wealthy class and the poor peasants, whose social distance the author masterfully magnifies in Cronache del Borgo thanks to the use of the Sicilian dialect by the lower class.
