Abstract

The features of spectral properties of the Jones matrix model of the dominant deterministic polarization transformation for inhomogeneous elliptic birefringent medium have been studied. It is shown that in the case when azimuths of linear dichroism and linear birefringence are coincide the arbitrary Jones matrix can not be characterized by orthogonal eigenpolarizations.

Sergey N. SAVENKOV was born in 1964. He received his M.S. in Kiev Taras Shevchenko university in 1986. His Ph.D. thesis was in the field of investigation of information possibilities of polarization measurements. His research interests are focused on the study of information possibilities of polarization of electromagnetic radiation in remote sensing, crystal optics, biomedical optics and in laser radar. Specific topics are an analysis of structural and anisotropy properties of objects contained in their Mueller matrices, development of the Mueller matrix measurement methods, optimization of polarimetric sensors for remote sensing applications, and use of polarimetry to improve imaging in scattering media.

He is an author more that 100 publications (PhysRev, JOSA, ApplOpt, JQSRT etc.) including 3 book’s chapters (Springer).
