Endoreversible and finite-time thermodynamics are non-equilibrium thermodynamic theories which focus on the irreversibilities in real thermodynamic processes. Endoreversible thermodynamics views a system as a network of internally reversible (endoreversible) subsystems exchanging energy in an irreversible fashion and allows to quantify the dissipation in irreversible processes. In this talk a general framework for the endoreversible description of a system is presented, followed by a discussion of the performance of such systems. [DOI: 10.1685 / CSC06093] About DOI
