On detonations and flames

Detonations and flames, -just like shocks -, are steep and rapid transitions between two equilibria which represent regular singularities. The nature of the singular points is more difficult to identify than for shock waves, because of more variable-fields. After a review of the Chapman-Jouguet theory the fields of velocity, pressure, temperature, entropy and entropy production are calculated for two detonations with Mach number 7. Problems with flames in viscous gases are briefly discussed.Dowloads
